YOUTH FROM GUAM ORGANIZATION PAID A VISIT TO THE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION DEVELOPMENT.

Participants in the Second International Guam Youth forum on the initiative of Vladimir Voronin, the President of the Republic of Moldova, paid a visit to the Ministry of Information Development during the very first day of their visit to Chisinau. Within the framework of the meeting, Sergiu Sitnic, Director of the Principal Directorate of Information Society Development, made the presentation of the structure of the Ministry, its projects and programs. The guests got familiarized with the activities of almost all the subdivisions of the Ministry, its international cooperation, partnership, scientific-research work, development of information sphere and various soft-elaborations.

Participants in the forum showed interest in IT-experience of Moldova. After the detailed presentation of the activities of the Ministry of Information Development, representatives from Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova took active part in the discussion of issues of major interest, in particular concerning the database information security, and the protection of human rights in the age of globalization.

The Forum “GUAM Youth – ways of partnership development” (Chisinau, 9-12 March) is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport with the financial support of the US Embassy in the Republic of Moldova. The first forum of the kind was held on 21-23 December 2005 in Kiev. During the first forum it was decided to found International organization of GUAM youth.

GUAM is a structure, which was founded in 1997. The structure of GUAM includes Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova. The activity of the organization is based on the principles and values of democracy and the supremacy of law for the stability and progress.
